Where majestic mountains greet the sea

Laurel Street to the sea

A timber town hewn from the forests of the Olympic Peninsula that tower high above and built on a tidal flat where a natural spit shelters one of the deepest harbors in the world.  The people who came here were rugged, self reliant and determined. They cut trees to build the Northwest and fished the waters to feed the nation. We sluiced the hogback to raise downtown above the tides, we hosted the Naval Pacific Fleet, and we protect our shores to this day.  We are ever changing but always true to our roots.
