Downtown Port Angeles - A Storied Past

Storied Past
The Fred P. Henson store was located at 108 East Front Street, listed in the 1915-16 city directory. He ran it for only 3-4 years. By 1920-21, it was Seever’s Cash Store. By 1954, it was Haguewood’s which was destroyed by the Olympus Hotel fire on September 30, 1971.  This photo is from the historical society collection received from the John Henson family. --Clallam County Historical Society

Buildings rich with detail and sturdy in construction hide stories of the past within their walls and beneath our feet.

The Design Committee is developing an historic walking tour of Downtown that will be a guide to the history of Downtown Port Angeles through stories, facts and photos.

We are just in the beginning stages of developing the tour and if you have photos or stories about the buildings downtown that you would like to share, we would love to hear from you.  Just drop us a line at director@portangelesdowntown.com  and let us know.

This page is still under construction as we collect information and photos, so check back often and see what we've discovered.
